This Wednesday, March 3rd at 6:00pm is our 2nd school wide honor roll awards night ceremony for this school year. All parents should come out to show their support for IS 68's best academic performers. It is a event in which our school's administrators, teachers, students & parents can unite for excellence.

NO SCHOOL TODAY

Due to snow weather conditions, all New York City public schools will be closed today, February 26, 2010. All after-school activities and events will also be cancelled.

HAITIAN COMMUNITY NEWS & UPDATES

The IS 68 Haitian Map Fundraiser has already donated over $900 in contributions to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Barrels & boxes are packed and ready to be sent to Haiti as soon as the way is open. On behalf of the people of Haiti & our School's Haitian Community, we thank you for your support, thoughts & prays. Also, last week, the Haitian Community of Brooklyn received a visit from CNN's Anderson Cooper and Ms. Piton, IS 68 Music Teacher was there!

BILL OF RIGHTS, OUR LIBERTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

If you were a no show on Thursday, January 28's, Social Studies Family Night workshop, you missed out! Ms. Grabowska, 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher & Mr. McNeill, Assistant Principal of Academy III provided one of the most stimulating, fun and thought provoking lessons for parents on our Bill of Rights. As parents experienced the magic of history in their own community, they also gained the value of civic awareness.

HEALTHY STEPS TO ALBANY

Michelle Paige-Paterson, wife of New York State Governor David Paterson met with District 18 school superintendent, prinicipals, teachers, parents and students at IS 68 to promote her “Healthy Steps to Albany” initiative this morning.

Haiti Earthquake: How to Help

The Emergency Community Meeting for Haiti's Earthquake victims was a success! The thought provoking discussion by the panel members of A.I.M.E.R. Haiti (Love Haiti) organization provided a much needed focus toward building next steps for getting aid to Haiti.

Haiti Suffers A Devastating Earthquake

Just when we thought that Haiti could not take anymore, an earthquake shows up. This news comes as a complete shock. Many of IS 68's students and staff are from Haiti and our heart goes out to all as they await news because information is slowing coming in with telephone and other communications lines down. We can only hope and pray for all of our love ones on the island.

BLACK & WHITE SENIOR FORMAL AFFAIR

The Class of 2010 Black & White Formal Affair was a phenomenal success. It was well attended and everyone had a fabulous evening dancing to the music arrangements of DJ, Mr. Bryant, as MC, Mr. Brown kept the floor jumping!
